“The light is what guides you home, the warmth is what keeps you there.”
The people we support are all unique and special, and their homes should reflect that. A home should offer peace, security, and love, and meet the specific needs of our communities. As we start to think about what the future holds for the Trust after our 70th Jubilee celebrations, one thing we know is we want to relet more flats and living quarters to more residents and we need your help.
Making your own choices
Wolfe lives in one of our homely flats in “Little Derow”, a collection of six flats where some of our residents independently live with support on hand. Wolfe has been able to express his incredible eye for interiors by filling his flat with colour, art and quirky animal ornaments.
“I moved from my care home to here because I wanted to be more independent.”
Wolfe, Delrow Community
When Wolfe isn’t preparing his favourite meal in his own kitchen, noodles, and watching Halloween and festive movies, Wolfe takes part in our Green Care Programmes, which include woodwork, Wolfe’s favourite workshop. As a big animal fan, Wolfe has carved wooden reindeers and indulged his eclectic tastes by creating colourful skulls too.
Christelle, Co-Production Lead at Delrow, says “We want to give people the choice of whether they want to live in a flat, and we need to have somewhere vacant to give them that possibility.”
The basis of a good life is a good home
We listen to the people we support, and they know what environment suits their needs the best. Whether in a lively shared accommodation with their own bedroom and bathroom, to a peaceful individual flat where our Green Care Programmes are on their doorstep - what we want is to provide more living facilities like these to future residents.
We know that we need more places like Little Delrow – homes which give people the right balance of support and independence, with friends, community, and green space close by. More than ever, there is a demand for integrated Supportive Living, and coupled with underfunded Social Care - it is vital we have all homes relet sustainably by 2027 to meet this urgent need.
