Many of the people we support receive a support package from their local authority to fund their support. Although, some opportunities for self-funding do exist.
Support packages
Once the Local Authority has agreed your support needs, on most occasions they will pay the cost of providing that support directly to the community. Sometimes they will pay the money directly to the person being supported, or the person with responsibility for the individual’s finances. These funds then need to be paid to the community to cover the cost of the support package.
Accommodation charges
If your finances are below the government limits then we will support you to make a housing benefit application to cover the cost of your rent. In addition to the rent, there are also some small accommodation charges (related to utilities) which are ineligible for housing benefit and which will need to be covered by the person being supported.
