What is Shared Lives?

Shared Lives is a scheme designed for adults who have a learning disability, autism, complex needs or need support and wish to live in a family home, similar to foster care but specifically for adults.

At Camphill Village Trust, we match individuals with trained Shared Lives carers who open their homes, hearts and family life to provide support.

With Camphill Village Trust Shared Lives, you can:

  • Move in with a Shared Lives carer into their home.
  • Stay with a carer for a short break.
  • Spend a day, or a few hours, with a carer.

You and your carer would decide how you would like to spend your time together. Often, this could include:

  • Learning new skills, such as cooking or baking.
  • Trying new activities or hobbies.
  • Get out and about in the local community.
  • Enjoy day trips or holidays.
