Shared Lives Week, celebrated from June 24-28, was a time for us to highlight and promote the wonderful Shared Lives model, and most importantly, to say thank you to our incredible Shared Lives Carers. These dedicated individuals open their homes and hearts to support people, helping them live as part of a family.
This year, we had even more reason to celebrate. Following our successful award of the Dudley Shared Lives contract, we used this special week to relaunch Camphill Village Trust Shared Lives across Dudley and the wider Black Country.
Our relaunch event brought together a diverse group of local organisations and partners to showcase their services. We were joined by Healthwatch Dudley, Act on Energy, Shaw Trust, Beacon Centre for the Blind, Discover U, Citizens Advice, Live Well Feel Safe, Ridge Hill Learning Disability nurses, and our very own Co-production team.
The event saw an enthusiastic turnout of over 50 people, including Shared Lives Carers, the people we support, families seeking support, Social Work professionals, Commissioners, and local dignitaries like the Deputy Mayor Councillor Pete Lee.
Trust Director Fiona I’Anson and Trustee Ann Kenney gave heartfelt speeches, expressing gratitude to our staff, Carers, and the people we support. The Dudley Canal Trust was the perfect venue, chosen for its strong ties to the Dudley area and its excellent transport links for attendees from across the Black Country.
The event was a resounding success, highlighting the strength of our relationships with Shared Lives Carers and the people they support, the positive team culture within our Trust, and the valuable partnerships we have formed with local organisations.
We are excited to continue growing and strengthening our Shared Lives program in Dudley and beyond. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event memorable.
