Delrow and St Albans Walk for our 70th Anniversary

Celebrations for the 70th anniversary of Camphill Village Trust are continuing.

Our communities have been coming together to raise vital funds through unique and inspiring events like the Herts 70th Challenge Walk.

Last week, members of our St Albans and Delrow communities came together for the Herts 70th Challenge Walk. The event was a wonderful opportunity to connect, challenge, and enjoy the beautiful winter scenery.

Despite the icy conditions and freezing temperatures of -4°C at the start, the teams from both communities were determined to complete their journey. Wrapped up warmly, they embarked on their routes: an 8-kilometre walk for the Delrow team and a 9-kilometre walk for the St Albans team.

From St Albans, Matty, Alex, Harry, Emily, and Adria set off on their adventure. Meanwhile, Deepack, Wolfe, Eddie, Josh, Esther, Raffi, Dan, and Jack began their journey from Delrow, supported by a dedicated team of staff. The day was not just about the distance but also about friendship, resilience, and the shared goal of meeting halfway and heading to the pub together to celebrate.

Here are a few thoughts from the day…

Eddie: “It was long! I didn’t like the muddy bit, but the rest was so much fun! The nice bit was knowing we’d have food at the pub with our St Albans friends.”
Wolfe: “I loved walking to have lunch at the pub. I celebrated with a cocktail and nice food!”
Esther: “I am so happy to be walking today. It’s so exciting! I’m so proud I did it! I could see the pub from a long way off, and it felt like crossing the finish line.”
Deepack: “The walk was nice but really cold. I liked pushing myself to do this long walk with my friends. It was fun!”

The event was not only a personal triumph for all involved but also a fundraising success, raising £485 so far to support Camphill Village Trust and celebrate our 70th anniversary. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and cheered us on. Your contributions and encouragement mean so much!
