Congratulations Class of 2023!
On behalf of Camphill Village Trust, we are delighted to announce the graduation of the first cohort of Severnside Skills trainees on Wednesday 3rd April 2024. Joined by friends, family, Trust staff and other partner organisations, the ten graduates chose to mark the occasion with an afternoon tea accompanied by a playlist of their chosen songs.
“The day was a wonderful reflection on the development of Severnside Skills over the past year, seeing the sense of achievement on the graduates’ faces gave an immense sense of pride.”
– Clare Bond, Vocational Skills and Development Manager
About Severnside Skills
Severnside Skills was launched in 2022 to provide training and educational opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and autism in Gloucestershire, through customer-facing
operations at Taurus Crafts. As part of their professional development, the trainees have
completed over 250 hours of work experience-based training across the site as they worked towards their accredited certificates in Hospitality, Retail and Catering.
Severnside Skills pioneers a progression route for its trainees by enabling them to develop
practical skills and work experience to apply in their personal lives, volunteering placements or employment. Since completing their AQA courses, each graduate has carved out a new path for their future. Some will return for further courses to expand their skills, while others have already progressed to volunteer placements and paid employment. Hospitality Skills graduate Susie has secured a twelve-week volunteer role at local café Hips Social and will continue to work one day a week at the Gift Store at Taurus Crafts.
