Keeping Safe in Light of the Riots

Keeping Safe in Light of the Riots

Following the recent incident in Southport and subsequent demonstrations and riots, we wanted to ensure that all our colleagues, communities, and friends know how to stay safe in the face of civil unrest.

Key points to remember:

  1. Avoid Protest or Riot Areas: Do not enter protest areas, even if that means rearranging activities. Your safety is the priority over any planned activities.
  2. Travel Assistance: If travel plans cannot be rearranged and are disrupted by protests, use alternative modes of transport, such as taxis, to minimise your exposure to the protests.
  3. Stay Safe: Do not let unidentified visitors on site. If you or any of the people you support are targeted in or outside our service, contact the police immediately and reach out to your manager as soon as possible.
  4. Stay up to Date: Repeat protests are planned over the coming weeks. Although sporadic they could still pose a threat to your safety. If you are in any doubt about your safety, or the safety of the people we support contact your manager.
