Celebrating 70 Years of Camphill Village Trust

A Journey of Community, Creativity, and Care

This year is a big one for Camphill Village Trust as we celebrate 70 years of community, creativity, and care. From our small beginnings in Scotland, where Dr. Karl König started the first Camphill community, to the lively and diverse communities we have today, this jubilee is a tribute to everyone who has been part of our journey.

We are excited to unveil our new anniversary logo to kick off our year-long jubilee celebrations. This symbol will bring together all the activities, fundraising challenges, and projects we have planned for this special year, reflecting our rich history and looking forward to the future.

What’s happening in our Jubilee year?

We have a range of exciting projects and events lined up to commemorate this significant anniversary, each reflecting the heart and history of Camphill Village Trust.

70 Faces:

This project aims to capture the stories and faces of the people who have made Camphill Village Trust what it is today. We will share these stories to honour our past and look ahead to our future.

Anniversary Quilt:

Our communities are coming together to create a giant patchwork quilt. Each community will contribute their own stitched memories, forming a beautiful tapestry that celebrates the uniqueness and individuality of every one of our communities.

Magic Trees:

Creativity and sustainability come together in this project as our communities’ craft unique trees symbolising their individuality. These leaves will serve as living art pieces, representing the growth and diversity of Camphill Village Trust.

Kilimanjaro Challenge:

One of the most adventurous projects of our jubilee year is the Kilimanjaro Challenge. Our CEO, Sara Thakkar, along with Directors Claire Twaites and Sally Watts, will be leading a team of climbers on an incredible journey to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro. This challenge is not just about reaching the summit; it’s about raising vital funds.

Archive Project:

As Camphill Village Trust marks its 70th anniversary, we are keen to take the opportunity to delve into the rich history of our communities and the incredible impact we’ve made over the decades. To commemorate this milestone, we’ve commissioned a specialist archive consultant to explore our archives and uncover the stories that have shaped who we are today.
