Congratulations Andrew and Karen
The course of true love never runs smoothly, and Andrew and Karen from our Stourbridge community have certainly seen a few bumps along the road, thanks to the pandemic!
The couple met in 2016, and started dating after they had their first dance at Andrew’s 40th birthday party that same year. ‘That’s when I first knew she was the one for me!’ says Andrew.
Two covid cancellations!
After getting engaged on Valentine’s Day 2018, Andrew and Karen set a date for 2020. “Our first wedding date should have been August 2020,” explains Karen. “But we had to cancel when COVID came in March. And then we booked a second date the following July, but that had to be cancelled too!”
Like many people, Karen and Andrew found themselves keeping in touch from afar during the long months of lockdown. “Sometimes we did video calls on Facetime, and sometimes we were able to meet up and stand at two metres distance,” says Karen. “But it was hard being apart.”
Third time lucky
Karen and Andrew were able to tie the knot at last on 14th May this year, with a church ceremony and hotel reception attended by around 80 friends and family. After such a long wait, it was an extra-special day for both.
Following a honeymoon in Norfolk, the happy couple are settling into married life together in their new home.
“We have a few niggles, like all couples, but we both feel very lucky,” says Andrew. “We wouldn’t
change a thing!”
Congratulations Andrew and Karen, and our best wishes to you both from all the Camphill Village Trust family!
