Whatâs it like to work for Camphill Village Trust?
What can you expect when working here?
-
Learning and development opportunities to enhance your skills.
-
A chance to visit our amazing communities around England and have a chance to enjoy our land, farms, animals, nature and cafes.
-
To meet and work with the people we support and staff in the communities.
- Building connections
Camphill Village Trust offers a sense of belonging and community. That means we create opportunities for friendship, connecting people to build a community so they can feel valued rather than isolated. - Enabling potential
Camphill Village Trust enables people to develop, grow and be heard. This means we build confidence and the voice of the people we support informs what we do, at every level. - Promoting purpose
Camphill Village Trust promotes meaningful, healthy living. This means the people we support live an active life and can contribute to the wider community on an equal basis. - Environmental respect
Camphill Village Trust values and cares for the environment. This means that we see a connection between the environment we live in and our well-being and promote living sustainably, in harmony with the natural world. - Social impact
Camphill Village Trust believes our people and resources should make a positive contribution to society. This means we support and develop initiatives to challenge issues faced by vulnerable members of society, which enable the people we support to achieve greater integration into the wider community.
If you are the sort of person who treats others with respect, listens to their needs, understands their emotions, and is warm, kind, and honest, and enjoys supporting people to learn and develop new skills and make the most of lifeâs opportunities, you would make a great support worker.
Being a support worker requires some core social care knowledge and skills like teamwork and problem-solving, but it is your values, behaviour and attitude that really matters â we can support you with the rest.
Everyone receives a full induction when they start and is supported to obtain the Care Certificate. We also provide opportunities to obtain further health and social care qualifications, to help you progress your career aspirations.
We always welcome the opportunity to talk with you about the role and answer any questions you have before the interview â so please get in touch â email recruitment@cvt.org.uk with a phone number and we will contact you.
Application
Once we have received your online application, we aim to respond to all support worker applicants as soon as possible. For other roles, you may not hear from us until after the closing date, when we have had the opportunity to review all the applications received.
You will receive an email or phone call inviting you to an interview. If you have not been successful, we will always let you know promptly.
Interview
We will send you a link to complete a personality questionnaire before the interview, to help us understand your strengths and suitability for the role.
We will let you know in advance what to expect when you come for the interview and how long to allow. Usually, there is an interview with two or three managers that lasts about 45 minutes and a second shorter interview involving people we support. They will ask their own questions and have a member of staff there to support them.
Sometimes there is a practical task to complete that is relevant to the role. If you need any adjustments due to a disability, please let us know.
Offer
We will normally call you the day after the interview if we would like to offer you a job with us and we will then confirm the job offer in writing.
Pre-employment checks
Our offer of employment will be conditional on the satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks and as a social care provider, these need to be carried out before you start. We carry out these checks as quickly as possible but obtaining some checks can take a few weeks.
You will be sent a link to register on our employment screening system and be asked to provide information:
- to verify your identity
- to confirm you have the right to work in the UK
- to undertake an Enhanced or Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), depending on your job role â this will be paid for by us
- to confirm your fitness to undertake the role and to look at whether we need to make any adjustments to help you
- We will seek two satisfactory references from your current and most recent employers and details of any gaps in employment. If you are a student or have not worked for some time, we can talk to you about who else might be able to give you a reference.
Criminal Record
During the recruitment process, we ask you to tell us in confidence about any criminal record, including any cautions or pending prosecutions.
As the role involves access to vulnerable adults, it is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offender Act 1974, and so you will need to provide details of âspentâ convictions and cautions unless they are protected. More details about what is protected can be found on the DBS website or contact the Nacro Resettlement Advice Service - https://www.nacro.org.uk/resettlement-advice-service/support-for-individuals/disclosing-criminal-records/disclosing-criminal-records-employers/
We will only take account of information if it is covered by the exemption and is not protected. Having a criminal record will not prevent us from employing you. We will consider the nature of the offence, how long ago it happened, the age you were at the time, and any other relevant factors.
Ready to start
Once the pre-employment checks have been completed and are satisfactory, we will be in touch to let you know and agree on a start date.
We look forward to seeing you on your first day with us.
